ESSL - European Severe Storms Laboratory
The statutory purpose of the European Severe Storms Laboratory e. V. (ESSL) is:
-to advance meteorology and related sciences in the field of research on severe convective storms and extreme weather events on a European level;
-to operate and extend the European Severe Weather Database, ESWD;
-to support or organise the European Conferences on Severe Storms, ECSS;

Storm Prediction
Center
The SPC is
a part of the National Weather Service and the National Centers for
Environmental Prediction. Their mission is to provide timely
and accurate forecasts and watches for severe thunderstorms and
tornadoes over the contigous united states. The SPC also monitors
heavy rain, heavy snow, and fire weather events and issues specific
products for those hazards.
